LETTERS

On 2/13/X, these are letters found by members of our museums. They were written by a tourist who was absolutely charmed and completely fascinated with the wildlife in our town.

My friend,

It’s like I stepped into my favorite universe! It’s like the Night Vale podcast I listen to, but this city actually says they’re somehow the sister city of Night Vale? As if it’s a real place! Ha!

But I know, I know I meant to see you guys this break, but I accidentally bought tickets for the wrong train. I noticed too late, alright? Pretty dumb on my part, let’s be real. HOWEVER, I am in the COOLEST PLACE right now. It’s so weird. Like the birds chirp at this weird frequency that’s not normal and I am NERDING OUT! It’s so fascinating!

See you guys soon!

Hi,

Okay, not gonna lie, these bird chirps I’ve been studying have been cool, right, but now they’re REALLY annoying. Like, there’s something about them, like their chirping pitch is just high enough to be uncomfortable. Also, the shadows seem to move disconnected from their object? I just saw someone’s fork get stolen by one of these shadows, and the shiny fork immediately turned dull in the what I assume is the creature’s mouth. I have to stick it out for a few more days, though, until the next train comes. I hope to see you guys soon.

Love, your friend

Friend,

I’m really worried about this. I don’t want to say it out loud, but I’m really regretting coming to this town. There are too many weird things here and everyone says that the train should come in two days but I don’t think that I can last for another night. I have this roommate who doesn’t really seem human and I feel so threatened please I hope I can send these to you soon so you can see what I did I hate that I’m writing notes and letters instead of just calling or texting but my phone isn’t working and I feel scared and alone like I’m in some alternate dimension instead of a small town on the mountainside on the way to see you guys.

I should’ve just stayed on the train. I should’ve just stayed on the train. I should’ve just stayed on the train.
